Peoria Rivermen Hockey Team Hopes to Break Losing Streak

By: Meg Ryan

The Peoria Rivermen 2012-2013 hockey season is now in full swing, but the team lost the last four home games in a row, giving them a losing record of 2-5-1-1. Even though the Rivermen have been losing, the games certainly haven’t all been boring. The Rivermen fell to the Lake Erie Monsters November 1 in an overtime shootout, leaving the fans with little fingernails left. However, the other games were all shutouts. The Charlotte Checkers blanked Peoria October 27, 4-0, and again the next day, 6-0. The hockey team’s most recent loss was to the Milwaukee Admirals November 3, 3-0. The Rivermen’s longest losing streak in team history is 6 games in a row, set back in the 2005-2006 season and matched in the 2007-2008 season. The Peoria team will attempt to win Thursday’s game at Charlotte to keep from setting a new franchise longest losing streak record.
